It strikes me now, years on, that Ana Lucia was probably the most consistently well written female character on the entire show, perhaps with the exception of Libby and Juliet, at least in my opinion anyway.
I really don’t get people whose sole reason for hating Ana Lucia was because she killed Shannon - by accident. After days of living in terror and fear as the Others attacked their camp over and over again, those circumstances might just have made her that little bit more paranoid and prone to overreacting at little noises, and I really don’t get people who saw any malice in what she did. Okay, granted I get her personality wasn’t going to get everyone to warm up to her, but the way she went out was just absolutely horrific. Shot dead with her guard down, confessing to her own murderer how she couldn’t take do “this” anymore - with no explicit explanation as to what she really meant about that.
I think given time she could’ve ended up being as well loved as the main cast - I genuinely do believe that. I just wish if she had had to have died, it would’ve been while fighting for her life.
